इवेंट के बारे में

This webinar offers an introduction to nine essential messages about prenatal alcohol exposure that can be shared across systems of care in your community. These essential messages were developed by the Alaska FASD Strategic Plan Workgroup and focus on important definitions, impacts, common characteristics (both strengths and challenges), and strategies for success for the FASD community. This virtual training covers basic information, prevalence, prevention, and advocacy for people impacted by prenatal alcohol exposure, their families, caregivers, service providers, and administrators. Materials include online publication of 9 Core Messages: What Everyone Should Know About Prenatal Alcohol Exposure

Target participants: people with lived experience of an FASD, family members, caregivers, peers, direct service providers, and administrators.

Suitable for those who are interested in building systems of care or finding ways to advocate a consistent message about FASD.

About the Presenters

Teri Tibbett is the advocacy coordinator for the Alaska Mental Health Board and Advisory Board on Alcoholism & Drug Abuse and works closely with the Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority and partner advisory boards, coordinating their “joint advocacy” effort. She also serves as coordinator for the Alaska Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) Partnership and Alaska Reentry & Justice Partnership—individuals and organizations that support appropriate services and supports for Alaskans who need access to treatment, housing and employment assistance, training, assisted living, peer support, and other community support services. Jenn Wagaman currently serves as the Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders Diagnostic Team coordinator at the Alaska Center for Children and Adults in Fairbanks. Prior to serving as coordinator, she began her involvement on the team as a volunteer parent navigator following the diagnosis of her daughter with an FASD. Jenn’s experiences as a foster and adoptive parent and with helping other families through the journey of diagnosis inspired her to become more involved in developing resources and supports for individuals and families experiencing FASD.
