What is FASD?
FASD stands for Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders, a form of neurodiversity that arises as a result of prenatal exposure to alcohol.
The research on prenatal alcohol exposure is rapidly changing, which provides greater opportunities for understanding the strengths and needs of individuals with an FASD.
Our Commitment to Eliminating Stigma
Stigmatizing individuals with prenatal alcohol exposure and their families not only perpetuates harmful stereotypes, but also undermines efforts to provide support and understanding.
Stigma often stems from misconceptions about FASD and can lead to individuals and families facing discrimination, judgment, and limited access to support services. Challenging stigma is crucial for fostering understanding, empathy, and effective support systems for those affected by FASD.
FASD Collaborative Project is committed to the elimination of visuals, language, attitudes, and behaviors that perpetuate stigma and bias. Join us in developing new expectations inside and outside of the FASD community.
