Community Engagement in FASD Research Study
Target group: Researchers in FASD globally

Researchers from any country globally who study FASD, including principal investigators (PIs), research staff, graduate students, etc.)

Requires reading and writing in English

Focused on understanding barriers and facilitators to community-engaged research practices in the FASD field (both clinical and preclinical work)

Spatial Development Study
Target group: Children to young adults (ages 12-25) with an intellectual disability (ID) and their parents/caregivers
-
For participants in the United States and Canada
-
Focused on understanding the how spatial abilities develop in typically developing children and people with intellectual disabilities.
-
Participants complete several tasks of learning that are age-appropriate and administered individually.
-
Requires parents to complete several questionnaires about daily behaviors of their children
-
Study sessions conducted via Zoom (2-3 hours, over 2 to 4 sessions).

Sessions are recorded and used only for experimental purposes
-
Participants receive a $50 gift card for their time and effort

Strengths-Based Identification Tool Study
Target group: Caregivers of Children Under 18

Targeting caregivers of children under the age of 18, with and without neurodevelopmental disorders

Living anywhere internationally

Target group: Adolescents with and without FASD and their caregivers

Adolescents with and without FASD (12-18 years old) and their caregivers

Living in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, or New Zealand

Focused on understanding the daily parenting experiences of adolescents with FASD

Sensory Strategies Study
Target group: Caregivers of Children with FASD

Caregivers of children ages 0-12 with an FAS or FASD diagnosis can participate
-
Study conducted by graduate students from Nazareth University (NY) Occupational Therapy program
-
Investigating sensory strategies used by caregivers of children with FASD and where they learned them
- Additional opportunity to participate in a focus group (link for that at the end of the survey below)

CBT-A Study
Target group: Teens with FASD and/or Caregivers

Teens with FASD (ages 14-17), caregivers, or both can participate
-
Open to individuals living in the US

This study will help us adapt a mental health therapy for teens with FASD

This study involves an online survey

The survey includes short videos explaining parts of the therapy program

Participants are asked if they make sense and what changes might be needed

Thriving with FASD Study
Target group: Young Adults with FASD

Involves two interviews on Zoom (~30 minutes each)

Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Study
Target group: Family Court Judges

Residents of US only
-
Involves one interview exploring how CASA volunteers can aid in identifying children with FASD and facilitating access to services

Interviews with CASA staff and personnel have been completed (only recruiting judges at this time)

FMF Connect Pro (CIFASD) Study
Target group: Mental Health Providers and Trainees
Recruitment Target Areas:
July - September 2024: NY State Only
August - December 2024: CA State Only

Applicable for ALL mental health providers and trainees serving children ages 3-12 and their families
-
Having identified children with FASD on caseloads is not required
-
FMF Connect Pro teaches providers how to do routine screening of prenatal alcohol exposure with all clients, apply DSM-5 diagnosis for FASD, and support families using the FMF Connect app

Continuing education provided for psychology, social work, and counseling
